Ozark High School Principal Announces Retirement

The Ozark Board of Education accepted the retirement of Dr. Sam Taylor during Tuesday’s board meeting. Taylor will retire June 30, 2017.

Taylor has been an Ozark Tiger for the past 20 years.

  • High school principal for the last nine years
  • Assistant high school principal for 10 years
  • Math Teacher for one year

Prior to joining Ozark School District, he taught in Oklahoma City, OK.

“I’ve had the pleasure of calling Dr. Taylor a colleague and a friend the last 20 years,” commented Dr. Kevin Patterson, Superintendent of Ozark School District. “I was assistant principal when he was hired and we received our doctorate together. Dr. Taylor is truly a person of high integrity and always works to figure out what’s right. He has been an incredible asset to Ozark High School and Ozark School District, and he will certainly be missed.”

Under Taylor’s leadership, Ozark High School has implemented several programs including

  • Project Lead the Way programs
  • Great Ozarks Centers for Advanced Professional Studies (GO CAPS)
  • Career and Technical Education programs
  • The International Baccalaureate program
  • 1:1 technology initiative
  • Personal plans of study for students
  • Fast Track classes through Ozark Technical Community College
  • Online class offerings

“He has truly taken Ozark High School to be a comprehensive high school to meet the needs of every student,” continued Patterson.
